Black Nyons olives and olive oil were the first in France to recieve the AOC, which certifies their production meets government standards.

Vignolis is a cooperative in Nyons formed in 1923 and is composed of 1,100 local farmers. Nyons olives and olive oils were the first in France to receieve the AOC (Appellation d’Origne Controlee) certification in 1994. AOC confirms that products have been examined and tasted before selling, 95% of olive groves are made up of Tanche olives, minimum size of a preserved olive without chemical or preservative, maximum temperature of extraction, maximum days between harvest and extraction and many more.
